Dan is a co-founder of Legacy Risk. He is responsible for strategic client service and business development in conjunction with managing Legacy Risk with Cory Higgins.
Dan’s clients include commercial real estate, development, construction and financial services businesses. He manages an array of risk management programs from guaranteed cost to captives.
Dan began his insurance career as an agency owner for a national direct writer insurance carrier and in the mid-1990s joined California Insurance Center (CIC) to focus on the brokerage side of the business. In 2000, he joined the ownership group of CIC and worked with his partners in growing the firm to become one of the largest and best-known independent firms in the Bay Area.
Ultimately, Dan served as President of CIC where, in addition to handling a book of business, he managed sales, carrier relationships and business operations.
In 2008, CIC merged with Arthur J. Gallagher and Dan shifted his focus to serving his clients. After three years, Dan wanted to get back to his independent roots and rebuild a boutique insurance brokerage founded on superior client service. In 2012, he and co-founder Cory Higgins made the decision to purchase their commercial clients and co-founded Legacy as an independent insurance brokerage.
Dan attended Santa Clara University, where he studied English. He completed the Executive Leadership program at Wharton and has received the Certified Insurance Counselor designation. Dan has served on advisory councils for several insurance carriers. He is a member of Urban Land Institute and National Association of Industrial and Office Properties.
